Case Study: Retail Chain/Order Fulfillment System

Client profile:

  • This client used an order fulfillment process that was not scaling to handle growth of the business. The system was very complex, prioritizing orders based on a variety of factors as varied as delivery scheduling and product dye lots. Despite the company’s previous efforts to improve system performance, the system was quickly bottlenecking their business and stood to limit production in the next major sales cycle. Fulfillment delays were resulting from poor system performance and competition for orders with other online systems. These delays resulted in increased shipping costs and potential negative effects on customer satisfaction.
